All,
Sup? Ya boy Charley aka Chuck Diesel here. I wanted to start writing more, sharing my thoughts on things and such. So I will post my thoughts on sports, music, podcasts, TV, and other subjects. I will incorporate data. This is for me and the creative process, so if you don't like me, that's fine. But I hope you enjoy!
I wanted to start off with one of my favorite days of the year - the NFL Draft! It will happen this Thursday, the 26th, through Saturday the 28th in Dallas. No one will ever get the perfect mock, and I expect not to be perfect. But it's always fun to guess and ponder. Let me know what you think!
I hope to write once a week or so! Excited for this mini project of mine!

Pick | Team | Traded Pick! | Player | Pos | School | Logic |
| CLE | Sam Darnold | QB | USC | This is gonna be the ultimate Browns move. Try to outthink everyone and end up taking the projected best QB of the class. USC QB's haven't been good in a while. Darnold will be solid. I like Tyrod though on the Browns.
| NYG | Saquon Barkley | RB | PSU | I get the hype. And the Giants need a star RB. I kinda love it. A bit nervous, but wouldn't mind having a stud behind Eli. Still need to finalize the line. Giants will be better.
| NYJ | Quenton Nelson | OG | ND | Jets signed two very good QBs, including Teddy Bridgewater who, if his knee is all good, is gonna be a stud in the league. Jets get a guard who looks like a 10-12 year veteran type. Super safe, Jets making a good move.
| CLE | Bradley Chubb | DE | NCSU | Bradley Chubb should be the #1 pick. Dude is a monster, will be a stud. Him and Garrett are gonna eat. Cleveland could trade down, but why not add another elite defensive piece, and the Bills won't want this pick since the Browns wouldn't take 2 QBs.... would they?
| DEN | Josh Allen | QB | WYO | I don't think Elway is a fantastic president, he is too focused on finding himself in a sea of explosive arms and fingertip speeds, but he is losing the best years of once a mighty defense and 2 of the best WRs in the league. And spent money on Keenum. And has Paxton Lynch. And he will still pick Allen.
| IND | BUF | Josh Roshen | QB | UCLA | Buffalo has been talking about trading up for a QB for a long time, and I'll be frank, I don't think this is a stellar QB class. I liked both Freshmen QBs in the NCAA Champioship game than any of the big names. But Buffalo is building something that is ready to win now, but also can win later. So they get Rosen, who is the most NFL game ready and will be very serviceable this year, and may blossom to something later, I don't see superstar, but good enough to win. |
| TB | Derwin James | S | FSU | Really good FSU versitaile safety heads to Tampa, seems like a piplelien from the panhandle to the pirateship. TB needs defensive help.
| CHI | Tremaine Evans | LB | VT | The Bears had a very good offseason adding pieces to their star QB. Trubisky is gonna be the next great Bears QB, write it down. And they kept their good DC, even with a coaching transisiton. Nagy rewards loyality by adding the best LB in the class.
| SF | Minkah FItzpatrick | S | BAMA | SF adds a DB for Richard Sherman to revive the Legion of Boom in the Bay area. I could see the Niners adding a WR for Garrapallo, but lots of holes to fill on the defensive side, and Fitz could be a sturdy long-term answer to this team. Always helps to pick winners as well, changes a culture for the better.
| OAK | Courtland Sutton | WR | SMU | Gruden has hung up the QB Hotline and has returned to his kingdom, back on the sideline. We will miss you, sir. AND HE WILL BRING BACK AL DAVIS AND HIS LOVE OF SPEEEEEEEED. Oakland needs someone to catch the ball, Nelson will help, but I don't think Amari is gonna stay healthy, I just see it all happening.
| MIA | Roquan Smith | LB | UGA | Like Indy, Miami needs talent, pretty much across the board. They will give Ryan T. one last year to prove his worth to the folks in southern Florida, but I don't see football in the sunshine state doing anything this year. Dolphins will get a better pick next season/
| BUF | IND | Mike McGlinchey | OT | ND | Colts are a mess, and I think they still think Andrew Luck will come back and play football professionally again. So you might as well pick a OL. Never hurts. They get some extra picks from Buffalo, Indy needs new bodies, and a program that the coach can turn around. Gonna need to make some tough choices in Indy, but they need to get younger and better. |
| WAS | Vita VIa | DT | UW | Going from Washington to Washington like the McChicken to a Small Fries on the doller menu. Washington gets the best Defensive Tackle in the draft, area they needed help in and area they will need help this year in after Alex Smith loses his mojo come Week 6 or so.
| GB | Denzel Ward | CB | ohio | Green Bay needs some help for an aging Clay Matthews, but the corners for Green Bay haven't been able to stop big plays, andf the WRs they face in the NFC North are getting better and will be more of them this year. Ward comes in with strength and knows how to play in colder weather. Lots of LBs in the 2nd round, adress it there. Rodgers will bounce back.
| ARI | Baker Mayfield | QB | OU | Arizona cannot expect Bradford to stay healthy this year. Arizona cannot be the place where you retire as a QB. I think Mayfield gets this job by the end of the year, and i think he makes a strong case to keep this job. Playing for Larry one last year is a gift, will help him adjust his game. Also, he won the Heisman, trust guys who have proven to be the best.
| BAL | Derrius Guice | RB | LSU | Baltimore added Crabtree and Snead in the last couple of weeks, and there will be plenty of WRs in the 2-3 if they want to continue to add pieces for Flacco, but why not add a RB who has shown he can play with the likes of Fournette and Barkley. Baltimore has another offensive weapon for Flacco.
| LAC | JAX | Lamar Jackson | QB | LOU | Jacksonville got better this offseason, but lost some WR talent. Now here's where I think Tom Coughlin, who I miss everyday and took for granted, becomes connected to the galaxy: he picks Lamar Jackson. Yes, Lamar is a QB first are foremost and they just signed Bortles to 3 years. But I think they can do some creative offensive stuff for Lamar, a former heisman. Yes, plenty of teams need QBs, but Jacksonville rolls the dice here on one of the best football players. |
| SEA | Marcus Davenport | DE | UTSA | Seattle is gonna have to rebuld the defense. Davenport is explosive and will help them get back to the standard they are used to. If he went to a more known school, this guy goes earlier. I think Seattle finds a gem.
| DAL | DJ Moore | WR | UM | Dallas needs to find a WR for Dak to grow with, and the future beyond Dez. I think Moore will be a very good reciever. You could argue RIdley here, but I think Moore has better hands. Maybe Baltimore picks him, as he is a local kid, but I think Dallas goes WR here for sure.
| DET | Moe Hurt | DT | University of Michigan | His heart his fine. He has the heart of a champion. But in all seriousness, I hear his heart is fine. If it wasn't for the combine scare, I think he goes earlier, but i think the Lions add a piece to a defense that could use some more pressure. Look for the Lions to add another RB/WR later in the draft.
| CIN | Isaiah Wynn | OT | UGA | Andy Dalton, heck, really anyone in CIncy in on thin ice this year. I truly think the Bengals front office went through all the names they could get to be their next head coach, but their heart is staying with Marvin Lewis. Baffling. I don't get it. But regardless, Bengals get an offensive lineman, gotta protect.
| BUF | IND | Harold Landry | DE | BC | Lots of people like Landry, BC always produces solid NFL talent. I think he will be solid, and if he falls this far, Indy needs as many good peices as they can. Will start right away. Maybe if Guice is on the board they go RB here, but the trenches need work. |
| NE | Da'Ron Payne | DT | UGA | You all ready think Bill picks a QB in the first round? Have you not learned anything? Bill is gonna go after KYLE LAULETTA from RICHMOND in the fourth round, and boom! Pats will be fine. But for right now, the Pats add a beast to their Defensive line and will win the AFC again next year. Why do you all doubt the longevity of Brady!
| CAR | NE | Kolton Miller | OT | UCLA | PSYCHE! The Pats do the unheard of and trade up for a much needed tackle. Miller is a big dude, and NE needs to add a ready player for what could be the last ride of Brady's career. |
| TEN | Rashaan Evans | LB | BAMA | Tennessee will be better with more experience under their belt, so they grab the best player on the board. Evans makes a good defense even better and makes the Titans a force in the South.
| ATL | Calvin Ridley | WR | BAMA | Man, the tide keep on rolling. Julio Jones went through his Insta and deleted all his old Falcons photos, which sounds really difficult and annoying, I wonder if he hired anyone to do it for him? Problably, but regardless, this good Falcons team lost Gabriel and needs someone to catch the ball, so why not go with what works: another Bama WR?
| NO | Will Hernandez | OG | UTEP | New Orlenas had the most improved defense in football last year, which they desperatly needed. And now as Brees ends his ride in the Superdome, he will need protection. Maybe they jump to a tight end here, but it isn't a strong TE class, I expect them to add one on day 2.
| PIT | Leighton Esch | LB | Boise State | Pittsburgh will always be a contender with this current management and coaching staff, but they have a hole to recover from while Shazier recovers from his scary injury. Esch is a strong dude, Pittsburgh is upset that the Titans took Evans.
| JAX | LAC | Frank Ragnow | C | ARK | Chargers are in a funky spot, they have a team compoenent enough to win, or a team with no chemistry and could collapse and see their hopes crumble in the city of angels. I think they gain some picks, and add pieces for the post Philips era. I could also see a Mason Rudolph here, but maybe not this early. |
| MIN | Braden Smith | OG | AUB | Minnesota put their money where their mouth in by signing Cousins to almost 90M, so they are set for the QB question. But they need someone to guard him. It's a super strong guards class, strange. Minnesota needs some help on the line. Vikings add some grit.
| NE | CAR | Mike Hughes | CB | UCF | Carolina made a gamble a couple years ago to get rid of Norman and add two rookie CBs to man their backfield. They sitll could use some more help. But also see this pick being a Guard. Weak line class. |
| PHI | Josh Jackson | CB | IOWA | The Eagles are soaring. They will be an early pick to win the NFC East, which they should, as they return most of their talent. Their only real small neeed is a CB, and Josh Jackson is a steal of a pick. He could have left school last year and been the guy. |
