Happy Sunday, everyone!
So, now the NFL Draft has come and gone (note, in my last post I wrote my thoughts on who would be drafted where, I did "meh" at best), what now? Well, I want to keep writing, I have gotten some positive feedback on my last post, so I want to keep the people happy! So, I will keep writing. I appreciate all the love and support from my loyal fans. But for those of you who may have stumbled upon this blog and wondered, "dang, this cool cat has some serious skills with the keyboard, who is this modern, stream of conscious writer with an ear to the society and culture around him?" Well, allow me to introduce myself...
MY NAME IS CHARLEY!
Sup.
Yes, I am the Charley Cohen, coming from you live here in Chicago, the Windy City, the city of broad shoulders (which is why I always work out my shoulders and upper body, gotta fit in with the local culture). They say age is just a number, and mine is 25. I am an Aries, I know most people are into astrology and space. Grew up in NYC, went to college at the greatest institution that humans have created, the University of Michigan, and have placed my settlement here in the second city. I want to write about areas that interest me, so you'll be reading a lot about sports - big college sports fan #PAC12AfterDark, love baseball [a shoutout to all my fantasy baseball players out there], NBA hoops [a Knicks fan, waiting for the day Dolan sells the team and Kristaps and Trey Burke wins us 4 Championships], and appreciate of other sports [shout out NY Red Bulls] - cool train maps, good books, movies and television, the arts, history & political science, space aka the final frontier aka when you look up, and more. But, the best way for any stranger to meet a new friend is easy, food & drink. So today, I will dive into my Sunday's best.... brunch.
The beauty of a blog is that perfection can be reach. No, my grammar and spelling may not be perfect (note, I am good at a lot of stuff, but slicing tomatoes and spelling are not two of them), but I can write what my perfect brunch meal would be. The meal would start on a warmer Sunday at 11:30 AM after some nice sleeping in and a cup of coffee at home to start the day. Hopefully the walk is calm and the wait for a table outside isn't too long. Sit down, get a nice second cup of coffee with a splash of milk. Prefer it hot with food, but nothing wrong with an iced coffee. You see on the menu a egg frittata with a fun combination of meats and veggies and cheese - red peppers, sharp cheddar, maybe a good thick ham or some breakfast sausage - and you put the menu down; too many options, can't second guess yourself. The order has been placed, and boom, your beer-mosa (has to be a good wheat ale or maybe a New England styled IPA) or screwdriver (full disclosure, I wish I liked tomato juice more so I can enjoy a Bloody Mary), and I get a nice afternoon buzz going on. It's Sunday, gonna relax and let loose. We enjoy the weather, discuss the events that have occurred over the weekend and beyond. As the stories are woven, something has perked my nostrils: the food has arrived. Damn, this looks good, some potatoes and a light salad on the side, and the most perfect golden egg dish this side of the Mississippi. And look, some fun hot sauces to really kick this meal up a notch! The conversation goes quiet, the food tells all the stories now. The eggs are rich and buttery, the potatoes add a nice crisp, and the salad adds the freshness that ties the meal together. It was delish. I am so full. The bill comes, we pay our dues and give our praises to the staff for a wonderful and now it is time to go home and nap after walking off the meal. End scene.
I hope that my ideal brunch day sounded good, cause it got me hungry. I have added a subscription below, so when I publish new posts you can get the straight in your mailbox. I am going to write 2x a week, one post on Sunday and one on Wednesday/Thursday - please comment, share, and give any other feedback you want! I hope you all enjoy, and let's tackle this next week with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
